How to build a rule by describing it

You do not have to learn a rule editor. Tell Chloe what you want in a sentence, and she builds it.

Two ways to build one

In the Rules section of Your skills, click Build a rule. You are offered both.

Describe it

Type what should happen in your own words. Chloe asks for anything missing and assembles the rule as you talk.

Build it yourself in the editor

Fill in the When, If and Then yourself. Use this when you already know exactly what you want.

The rest of this article covers describing it, which is faster for almost everybody.

How to describe a rule

2. 2Either click one of the three examples, or type your own sentence.
3. 3Click Start building.
4. 4Answer Chloe's questions in the box at the bottom. She asks only for what she still needs.

Write it the way you would say it to a colleague. "Mark angry messages as high priority" is enough to begin with.

What you get back

Chloe replies with the rule she has drafted, written out in plain terms. For the example above, she comes back with a draft named Prioritize Angry Messages:

• Trigger: incoming message received
• Condition: strongly negative sentiment, score 2 or below
• Action: set the conversation to high priority

Read this before anything else. It is the clearest statement of what the rule will actually do, and it is where you notice if she has understood you differently from how you meant it.

Reading the panel on the right

While you talk, the rule assembles on the right under Your rule so far. Each part fills in as it is decided, and anything that changed in the last exchange is marked Changed.

The panel is the rule. The conversation is only how you got there.

Changing your mind

Keep talking. Tell Chloe what to change and the panel updates. Start again, at the top, clears the whole thing and begins from nothing.

Open chat moves the same conversation into the full chat window, if you would rather work there.

How to save it

Save as draft

Keeps the rule without switching it on. You can finish it in the rule editor later.

Publish rule

Switches it on. From that moment it acts on every matching conversation.
